Puzzles - Hallmark/Springbook

The tremendous popularity of the Department 56 villages as well as the Snowbabies line opened several doors to expose them beyond traditional means. In the frenzy of the 1990s, Department 56 licensed its most popular collections to be used by Hallmark to create puzzles for its Springbook subsidiary. Each jigsaw puzzle was sold, exclusively, in Hallmark stores and consisted of 1,000 interlocking pieces that measured 24 x 30 inches when completed. The puzzle box featured a high gloss colored image of the completed puzzle on the front along with the name of the collection. On the back, another photo with numbers referenced the pieces featured in the photo. This creative marketing idea provided the name of each piece used in an effort to expand and spark new collecting. Numerous collectors sought the puzzles out in an effort to complete and frame them for their home. Many were inspired to recreate the scene in their own displays.
